We are seeking self-motivated, highly skilled and experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our innovative startup focused on food technology to lead the design and development of special purpose machines. The ideal candidate will be proficient in CAD software and possess practical, hands-on experience in developing mechanical products independently. A strong understanding of stepper/servo motors, drivers, gears, actuators, and other mechanical components is essential. Additionally, knowledge or interest in robotics and the ability to design 3D printed parts and handle 3D printers will be considered an added advantage.
Responsibilities
Design and Development
Conceptualize, design, and develop special purpose machines from scratch using CAD software
Create detailed engineering drawings and specifications for components and assemblies.
Conduct feasibility studies and perform engineering calculations to support design decisions.
Prototyping and Testing
Build prototypes and test mechanical systems to ensure they meet design specifications and performance criteria.
Identify and resolve any issues during the prototyping phase.
Conduct performance tests and make necessary adjustments to improve functionality.
Project Management
Manage projects from concept to completion, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budget.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, software engineers.
Provide technical guidance and support throughout the project lifecycle.
Component Selection and Integration
Select appropriate motors (stepper/servo), drivers, gears, actuators, and other components for the machine.
Ensure proper integration of mechanical and electrical systems.
3D Printing
Design parts suitable for 3D printing and optimize designs for additive manufacturing processes.
Operate and maintain 3D printers to produce prototype parts.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to 3D printing processes.
Robotics Integration
Apply knowledge of robotics to enhance machine functionality and automation.
Stay updated with the latest advancements in robotics and incorporate relevant technologies into machine design.
Documentation
Maintain comprehensive documentation of design processes, calculations, testing results, and modifications.
Prepare user manuals and maintenance guides for the developed machines.
Qualifications & Skills
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (B.Tech. / B.E.) or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
Experience
Minimum of 3+ years of experience in mechanical design and development, specifically in designing special purpose machines.
Proven track record of successfully developing mechanical products independently from concept to production.
Technical Skills
Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA).
Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, including stepper/servo motors, drivers, gears, and actuators.
Hands-on experience with prototyping, testing, and troubleshooting mechanical systems.
Familiarity with manufacturing processes and materials selection.
Knowledge or interest in robotics and automation.
Ability to design parts for 3D printing and operate 3D printers.
