Job Description

We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Commis Chef to join our dynamic culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a foundational knowledge of making bread, cake sponges, and preparing poultry and vegetables. This role is perfect for an aspiring chef looking to develop their skills and advance their career under the mentorship of experienced chefs.

Responsibilities

  1. Bread and Pastry Preparation
    • Assist in preparing a variety of high-quality breads, including artisan, sourdough, and specialty loaves.
    • Help in creating cake sponges, ensuring consistency in texture and flavor
    • Follow recipes and techniques as directed by senior chefs to produce high-quality baked goods.
  2. Culinary Preparation
    • Prepare and cook poultry dishes following established recipes and guidelines.
    • Assist in the preparation and cooking of various vegetable dishes, focusing on quality and presentation.
    • Ensure all dishes are prepared to the highest standards of quality and consistency.
  3. Kitchen Support
    • Assist senior chefs with daily kitchen operations and tasks.
    • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen, adhering to health and safety regulations.
    • Help with inventory management, including receiving and storing supplies properly.
  4. Learning and Development
    • Take advantage of learning opportunities provided by senior chefs and mentors.
    • Show initiative in improving culinary skills and expanding knowledge of cooking techniques and ingredients.
    • Participate in kitchen training sessions and workshops.
  5. Quality Control
    • Adhere to strict hygiene and sanitation standards in the kitchen.
    • Assist in conducting quality checks to ensure all food items meet the restaurant’s standards.
    • Respond to feedback and make necessary adjustments to improve food quality and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

  1. Education
    • Culinary degree or diploma from an accredited culinary school
    • Advanced certifications in baking and pastry arts are a plus.
  2. Experience
    • Minimum of 1+ year of professional culinary experience, ideally with some exposure to bread making, cake sponge preparation, and cooking poultry and vegetables.
    • Experience in a fast-paced kitchen environment is preferred
  3. Skills
    • Basic knowledge of culinary techniques, especially in baking and bread making.
    • Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately.
    • Understanding of kitchen operations and food safety standards.
    • Good time management and organizational skills.
